"It's All Old News"... The handwritten word and well as printed news is becoming a thing of the past. Is there a 'lessening' of our indivuality - are we too disappearing? Things disappearing, becoming covered over with new technology, ideas and cultural changes are explored with hand written words used as the underlying structure for the paintings. Just as icons are replacing much of contemporary written word the artist combines word and personal symbol in this series. The current media focus on "NEWS" selected, edited, analyzed and spun for consumption on every topic of the American culture is common place. "He who controls the word controls the world." Comparing old news to new not much changes, only the format and the vernacular in which it is delivered. |
